You Are Breathing Not To Please People

There are times when you know exactly what you should do, but you are afraid of what the reaction or opinion of other people would be. Many of us have encountered such thing.

Lately, I’ve noticed that sometimes we choose the wrong things in order to please the people around us. We give up doing the right thing, which will make us happy because we want to please other people. We are scared to receive disapproval, to hear negative feedback, and to be hated. But what good does that bring to us? It will not bring us anywhere, because their pleasure is not what we need, but the pleasure of Allah.

There are some people who might dislike your decisions in life, some might turn their backs on you, some won’t never understand you, some might bash you. Frankly, at some point, whatever your decisions there will always be people who are against you. So if your aim is to please people, you’ll just feel empty the more you try because you can’t please everybody. There will always be some people who won’t like you.

If you know that you are not doing anything wrong, then do it. Before you do a thing, you should not think whether it will please other people but you should ask yourself will it please Allah?

At the end of the day, the opinions of others are just ideas. Let them give you an advice, suggest some things, but don’t let them dictate your path. Follow the plans of Allah for you. In every decision you make, pray for His guidance, and make an intention for His sake. Let Him guide you in every step of the way.

Be reminded that, Allah created you uniquely with special talents, skills, abilities that only you can contribute to this world. If you keep on trying to please other people, and let your decisions be influenced by their demands, then you are depriving yourself to know more of your abilities.
